Virtual Training & Webinars

We offer webinars for a variety of stakeholders including educators, administrators, district staff and parents.

Educators

We provide pre-recorded or live webinars to share information in digestible bites for easy implementation.  These can be used at faculty meetings, PLCs and other formats that meet your needs.

  • Math for All: Implementing Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in a Standards-Based Math Class - 90 minute virtual session $400
    • Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is based on a theory that any tool, asset, or scaffold which has been shown to benefit some learners should be standard tool available to all learners.  In applying supports known to assist learners with disabilities, educators can bring benefits to the full-range of students found in any classroom. By presuming differences in student background knowledge, learning styles, and cognitive strengths, and then resourcing their classroom with a complete tool set of supports, educators establish an environment that is presumptively inclusive. This session will bridge the UDL theory with practical implementation strategies for a standards-based mathematics curriculum. Participants will learn about the concepts that underpin UDL, the pedagogical value for utilizing a UDL approach, and the three guiding UDL principles. The session will walk participants through standards-based examples in Mathematics for each UDL principle.
  • Targeted Math Instruction for Student Achievement - 90 minute virtual session $400
    • In the absence of intensive instruction and intervention, students with mathematics difficulties and disabilities lag significantly behind their peers (Jitendra et al., 2013; Sayeski & Paulsen, 2010) Therefore it is virtual that student areas of deficit and properly identified so that the appropriate interventions are put into place.  This session will cover
      • levels of math skill development and how to identify the priority educational need for a struggling student in math
      • guidelines for effective interventions
      • strategies vs. programs
      • what does math look like in a multi-tiered system of supports
  • Mindset Makes a Difference in Mathematics - 90 minute virtual session $400
    • “I’m not a math person” is a statement made entirely too often. Research shows that 95% of all people have the ability to learn Calculus!  Learn how to use a Growth Mindset to change Mathematics achievement in your classroom and school.  We will explore current research and how that translates to practical strategies that can be used to increase equity and achievement for all students.
  • Increasing Math Proficiency One Strand at a Time - Series of six 1 hour virtual sessions plus online resources and participation. $2,500 for up to 20 participants.
    • This course is designed to cover the five strands of Mathematical Proficiency identified in the Adding it Up study from the National Research Council. Research-based strategies in Productive Disposition, Conceptual Understanding, Procedural Fluency, Adaptive Reasoning and Strategic Competence will be reviewed. Participants will gain practical, easy to implement strategies to increase their students' proficiency in Mathematics.
  • Universal Design for Learning in the Virtual Classroom - 90 minute virtual session $400

Parents

  • Parenting for Potential: Using Praise to Foster a Growth Mindset - 60 minute webinar $300
    • Parenting is a challenge, especially in times of uncertainty. Having a growth mindset yourself and helping your children to develop one can be a solution. When students believe they can get smarter, they understand that effort makes them stronger. Learn how simple changes in the way you praise your child can make them into more successful students and people.
  • Fearless at Home - 60 minute webinar $300
    • Given the performance and test-driven culture of our schools, with over-packed curriculum and stressed out students, what can parents do to transform math for their children? Families can increase math proficiency in their children by playing fun games at home. Dr. Jo Boaler of Stanford University offers some practical tips for parents that we’ll review in this interactive session. Research shows that parent mindset regarding math can actually impact student achievement in math.  Therefore, this session strives to make math fun again for the whole household to reposition some of those long held fears about math.
